Back to HeadlinesWe only use Phosphor-free products!September 1, 2010Why avoid phosphors? Plants can't use phosphors, so phosphors contained in fertilizer can run off grass and into lakes, estuaries, or slow-moving streams. When these areas receive excess nutrients, it stimulates excessive plant growth (algae, periphyton attached algae, and nuisance plants weeds). This enhanced plant growth, often called an algal bloom, reduces dissolved oxygen in the water when dead plant material decomposes and can cause other organisms to die. |
